2023 has been an exciting year for Specialist Equipment Solutions, from developing our presence in Grimsby to investing in new technology, there’s only one direction for SES and that’s forwards.
In our latest blog post we catch up with Business Manager Neil Patterson, where he discusses the highs and lows that the last 12 months have brought and the company’s plans for 2024.
Reflecting on the last 12 months
Adapting to rapidly changing market demands and integrating new technologies proved to be formidable challenges. However, these challenges also brought forth significant opportunities, particularly in the realms of digital transformation and the expansion of service offerings. The team's adaptability and commitment to continuous learning were pivotal in overcoming these hurdles.
Reacting to change
The rapid market shifts demanded swift adjustments. Integrating new technologies was a dual challenge—while it presented opportunities for advancement, it also required substantial effort and learning curves. This transition, however, enabled Specialist Equipment Solutions to embrace digital transformation, positioning the company to meet evolving customer needs and explore previously untapped service avenues.
The key to success
It has to be adaptability and learning. Our success over the last 12 months rested on the team's remarkable adaptability. We have an extremely experienced team, where most people bring over 20 years of experience.
There’s very little that we’ve not seen or dealt with, and we’re in a unique position where we can use our knowledge to support our learning, embracing change and ensuring that our customers continually have access to the best solutions and technology.
This has allowed the company to stay agile in a volatile market landscape. This adaptability became a cornerstone in navigating uncertainties and seizing opportunities that arose.
Delivering the best for our customers
One of the challenges that we’ve faced this year is ensuring that we have enough manpower behind us to meet our growing demand.
At SES, quality is key. By investing in high quality equipment and creating a robust service and maintenance plan we are able to guarantee that our customers receive a premium service. But to achieve this, it is imperative that we have the right people behind us.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a strong team behind me working overtime while we recruited and trained staff, ensuring that we continue to deliver our high standards.
Continued growth
Our continued investment within Grimsby and the Humberside area marks a strategic move in extending our operational footprint.
At SES, we are always looking to provide the best solution within the shortest time frame, reducing our carbon footprint where possible. Following continued business growth around the Humberside area, the decision to invest more time and money within the area was a no-brainer.
We want to be able to deliver for our customers in the most efficient and cost effective way possible, so it made sense to expand our base in the area.
Looking ahead to 2024
We look forward to further expanding our digital capabilities and entering new markets. Oil and Gas has always been our core market, and will likely be so for years to come, but as the business continues to grow and our product offering diversifies, our opportunities are endless.
Opportunities for growth
Plans are already in place for us to further our digital capabilities, diversifying our fleet and expanding on our offerings for customers. As a specialist tool hire company it is vital that we understand our customers needs, and how they will likely change in the coming years.
Understanding our challenges
Venturing into new markets opens doors for SES, there is no doubt about it, but each new opportunity brings its own unique challenges. At SES we pride ourselves on delivering the highest of standards for our customers, therefore it is fundamental that we plan ahead to ensure that we have the correct resources in place to maintain our position as industry leaders.
We’ve had an exciting year at SES. Yes there have been challenging times, but the way that our team has pulled together to ensure that we continually deliver the highest standards has been incredible. Although I have been at SES for over 5 years, this is my first year as Business Manager, and I am extremely proud of our team.
I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store, not just for SES but for our customers, suppliers and wider business community.
