We are thrilled to welcome Daniel Flaxington to the SES team as our Business Development Manager, based in Aberdeen. With over 20 years of experience in engineering, management, and management consulting, he brings a wealth of knowledge, a results-driven mindset, and a passion for driving business success to our organisation.
In our latest blog post, Daniel shares insights into his professional journey, his vision for SES, and what excites him most about joining our team.
Can you tell us a little about your professional background and journey so far?
I’ve had a dynamic and diverse career spanning over two decades, beginning in engineering where I built a strong technical foundation. Over time, I transitioned into management roles, allowing me to work across various business functions, including strategy, operations, finance, and HR.
Since 2008, I’ve been focused on the Energy & Utilities sector, leading large-scale projects and cross-functional teams. During this time, I’ve been responsible for delivering an impact of around £56M through strategic initiatives and operational improvements. My leadership journey has helped me develop strong strategic thinking, project management, and interpersonal skills.
Most recently, I served as Country Operations Manager for a global rental company in the Middle East, where I managed all service and operations in Saudi Arabia, overseeing a team of more than 140 employees across three sites. This role also involved managing relationships with c-suite stakeholders and driving business growth.
In addition to my hands-on experience, I hold an MBA, am a Chartered Manager, and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. I’m also a member of the London Institute of Business and Finance and hold MSP Foundation and Practitioner qualifications.
My journey has been defined by continuous learning, leadership, and a passion for driving business success.
What are some key milestones or achievements you’re particularly proud of in your career?
One of my key achievements has been delivering approximately £56M in impact through strategic management and project leadership. Another milestone was becoming the youngest Senior Manager in the Middle East and Asia Pacific at my previous company, and serving as Country Operations Manager for Saudi Arabia, a critical market for the company.
On a personal level, I’m proud to be the first in my family to earn both a technical apprenticeship and a master’s degree, which reflects my commitment to continuous learning and growth.
What excites you most about joining SES?
I’m excited about joining SES because of its strong reputation for excellence, reliability, and innovation. SES plays an important role in the industry by providing high-performance equipment and expert support that helps ensure safe and efficient operations. What really stands out to me is the team-oriented culture at SES, where skilled professionals collaborate and focus on delivering personalised support to clients.
I’m particularly drawn to the way SES approaches challenges - offering integrated solutions that drive efficiency and help clients achieve long-term success. The commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement resonates with me, and I’m eager to be part of a team that values these principles while making a meaningful impact in the industry.
What are your top priorities for your first few months at SES?
My top priority will be supporting the senior management team in developing a structured business growth strategy for 2025, providing a clear roadmap for achieving our goals and strengthening our market position. At the same time, I will focus on driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and expanding the client base.
Building strong relationships will be essential to understanding client needs and fostering trust, ensuring SES continues to deliver exceptional value. Additionally, I will work on enhancing SES’s industry presence through strategic branding and market analysis, positioning the company for long-term success.
What are you most looking forward to accomplishing at SES?
I’m excited about the potential to drive growth and improve operational performance at SES. My experience leading teams, optimising service delivery, and working with senior stakeholders will help enhance customer experience and support the overall success of the business. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution and helping SES reach new milestones.

As we enter this exciting period of growth at SES, it’s important that we stay focused on our shared goals and work together to continue building on our success.
